ETC Energy is a consultancy group specialised in sustainable energy issues in development programmes. Our target group are those who lack proper energy service. Targeting the poor means a majority of our target group residing in rural areas. ETC Energy applies in its endeavour to contribute to socio-economic development by using energy as an instrument to reach that objective, a cross-sectoral and multidisciplinary approach. In this approach, ETC Energy tends to integrate energy in other rural development themes. Thereby we focus at social and institutional issues, since these issues have proven to be crucial in energy programmes. Examples of activities: ENERGIA: An International Network on Gender and Sustainable Energy. Energia's goal is to engender energy and empower women, through the promotion of information exchange, research, advocacy and action aimed at strengthening the role of women in sustainable energy development. ETC Energy hosts the secretariat of Energia EASE: Enabling Access to Sustainable Energy. EASE is a research and action programme coordinated by ETC Energy. EASE's mission is to enhance the access of low-income groups to sustainable energy services in rural areas. The first phase of EASE has been completed: the second phase is being prepared right now.
