GSI is a NGO working in community development. It was established 1992 and registered as an NGO in 1993. It belongs to the methodology forum on the NGO council of Kenya. As an origin, it does not deal with energy directly but encounters energy problems in communities along side, water, agriculture, health and communication, which are its areas of focus.

GSI facilitate people’s self understanding of their potential for collective action in eradication of poverty, marginalisation and social injustices. GSI uses a transformation tool known as GSI Participatory Evaluation Process (PEP), which ensures that people own and control their development process.
