World Vision Uganda was started in 1986 to respond to the emergency needs of people affected by war in the Luwero triangle. As part of its objectives to contribute to the quality of life of the poor and enable them increase their participation in the national development, WVU works on various technology innovations including those in water and sanitation areas. World Vision Uganda will contribute to the SPARKNET documentation by sharing their experience in developing gravity water scheme within the Rukiga Water and Sanitation Project.

The Rukiga project aimed at reducing the incidence of diseases related to poor sanitation and hygiene by providing a sustainable clean water supply and improving environmental sanitation in the Kasyamba district. The project also includes, the provision of water tanks at primary schools and trains water management committees and raising general awareness in relation to water and household sanitation.
