Description The objectives of the study were to undertake a detailed analysis of poverty and inequality in South Africa; analyse current policy proposals for the reduction of poverty and inequality; analyse the adequacy of current plans to reduce poverty and inequality and possible barriers to their implementation, and propose ongoing monitoring mechanisms to measure the impact of policies and programmes in the reduction of poverty and inequality. The report provides a resource to government and other stakeholders concerned with achieving measurable progress in the ‘war on poverty'.
