Description This report is based on a survey conducted in two tribal areas in northern KwaZulu-Natal. The survey was commissioned by the Nuon-RAPS Utility in order to establish the feasibility of providing off-grid energy services in the area. The report offers extensive details on patterns of household energy consumption, household energy costs, economic activities and willingness to pay. The primary objectives of the research were to generate a baseline data set allowing for future impact assessments as well as recording current patterns of consumption and expenditure.
