The Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM) is the overall in-charge of all services and activities of energy and minerals in the country. The ministry ensures the availability of reliable and affordable energy supplies and for their use in the rational and sustainable manner in order to support national development goals.

The ministry plays the role of facilitating the investment and foster understanding, cooperation and trust between public and private sectors and to ensure there is balanced use of energy supply resources (being forest reserves, hydropower, coal, natural gases, solar wind and geothermal)
