| Description |
Improved stoves have become popular, particular in the more arid regions of Africa, following the droughts of the 1980s. In Senegal, the Ban ak suuf has helped to reduce the amount of wood used for cooking and also reduced women's workload. The article describes what an improved stove is, how to make it and what obstacles the project met when introducing the stoves. |
