| Description |
In rural areas in China, over 50% of energy consumption is for household use, with rural women as the main end-users. Because women are responsible for cooking and fuelwood collection, their access to and control over energy resources is important. Once women participate in energy planning and master technology, and have access to and control over energy resources, they will bring in significant social changes. The Midu Women's Federation and rural women have improved their condition and position in society through participation in the energy programme. Simultaneously, the programme has brought socio-economic development and ecological sustainability. |
